The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves them spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detector) are positives.
Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair that is tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.
If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
